Everyone's always obsessed with a Reverse Hallmark Movie where the small town person goes to the big city and falls in love with the hot shot business person and the fast-paced city life
But might I propose: The Antithesis Hallmark Movie
Where the hot shot business person reluctantly goes to the small town, falls in love with a local, but are met with such open hostility right from the start and their efforts to charm the local they fall in love with go so catastrophically bad that eventually that love turns into passionate hatred and a lifelong mission to destroy the local and everything they love

FROM THE LAST ASK ABOUT LAST NAMES
(also dream team actually forgot for a sec))
I think Bruce might actually lose his mind if it’s Connor’s kid and *the baby looks like clark*. Like, yeah, it’s looks like reader- but only the features she got from her momma. the rest is all Kent genes. That kid is going to be a brick wall farm boy or Amazonian built farm girl with the prettiest face alive holy hell Konnor is so pretty
Kid looks like Reader or a Wayne: Bruce Wins!
Kid looks like Reader or a Kent: Clark Wins!
Kid looks like Lex Luthor: Neither Wins!
☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️
But, gosh, the child’s gonna have damn good genes. They’re guaranteed to win the genetic lottery regardless of who they look like!
(I was told once that the hair loss gene is inherited from the mother’s father, which means the kid’s gonna have hair even if they somehow look like Lex. This is fiction and I’m adding that fact to it.)

Clark has accepted what it means to be Lex's prisoner - the pain of the Green, the experiments, the hands on it. The long years buried in its containment cell, let out only to act as Lex's weapon, as Lex's tool. It had fought back at first, but years have ground it down and away to almost nothing.
Then Lex hands it a baby. And Clark realizes that while it may have hurt humans, and lied about what it is, and it may deserve to be locked away - Kon deserves to be free.

The Absolutely True Story of the Yiling Patriarch: A Manifesto in Many Parts by aubreyli (+ podfic)
Wei Wuxian’s hand jolts, spilling a drop of wine onto the tabletop. “Love?” he croaks, then clears his throat and tries again. “Lan Zh— uh, Hanguang-jun, in love?”
“Have you not heard the story?” the other young woman asks, looking pitying. “You must, it is a truly heartrending tale of star-crossed romance and mutual pining — go to any storyhouse in town, everyone has been requesting a reading of this book.”
“There’s a book?” Wei Wuxian says blankly.
-- In which the junior disciples (namely, Lan Jingyi, Ouyang Zizhen, and a reluctant Lan Sizhui) turn to RPF in an attempt to rehabilitate Wei Wuxian's reputation so that he and Hanguang-jun can get together and get married and live happily ever after. It's... surprisingly effective.

With the exciting news of Kon being in MAWS season 3 (!!!!!), do you have an specific recs for him when it comes to comics? (I know Young Justice is good for him, but not much outside of that)
hello! exciting news indeed!!! and hell yeah, here are some kon-centric comics outside of yj that i’ve enjoyed reading:
Reign of the Supermen arc (1993)
this arc has kon’s intro, well before he even had the name kon, and it’s worth a read if you haven’t already because of the way he shows up and is peak annoying immediately (said with love). especially Adventures of Superman #501! (the storyline spans a number of titles, reading order here)
(and for a related rec, the reign of the superman (2019) animated movie blends aspects of the original comic arc with the “kon is made with lex luthor’s dna” reveal/retcon; it’s a fun watch! left me with Much To Think About pang-wise, too.)
Superboy (1994)
the most concentrated amount of og jacket and glasses superboy you’ll find in one series; there’s a lot going on here, most of it so very 90s (both in the plot/world and on a more meta level) and also so many adorable kons. special shoutout to my favorite side character, krypto in his “tiny white terrier with a giant attitude” form. (and for a more specific rec i’ll point to issues #60 - 61, in which kon is hopping through multiple realities and we see, among others, robin!kon and “supergrrrl” kon.)
Batgirl (200) #41
this is the issue where cass goes “hmm, i should try to do A Romance” and shows up outside kon’s window to see what all the fuss is about, and they proceed to have the most lavender date of all lavender dates. i adore kon’s inability to shut up here, and also for obvious reasons need to give it a special shoutout for kon taking a “bat-babe” on a date in the clouds.
Adventure Comics (Vol 2) #1 - 6 (2009)
this arc serves to re-settle kon into the world (and smallville) after the whole [waves hand] dying and coming back to life thing. (technically it’s 12 issues, but you’re asking for specific recs so my specific recs are the first six!) this is about kon starting life in smallville and having a prolonged identity crisis re: the superman + lex luthor of it all. cassie, bart, and tim all show up as significant guest stars (one of my fav tim & kon issues of all time is in here) but it’s very kon-centric! i also really enjoy the art, especially when it does wide/landscape shots.
Superboy (2010)
this is a pretty direct continuation from the adventure comics arc, once again feat. kon’s 21st century black t-shirt (sigh) and also kon wearing the tiniest, goofiest pair of Disguise Glasses. that said, it’s a fun, classic “teen superhero juggles school and crushes and a statistically high number of supervillains for a small town (seriously, what the hell was poison ivy even doing in kansas?)” series. also if there were any justice in the world simon valentine would’ve been one of those crushes, but alas.
Convergence: Superboy (2015) #1 - 2
i’ll be honest, i’m not super familiar with the overarching convergence storyline, but i really enjoyed this two-shot featuring a kon who has been stuck in metropolis without his powers, only to suddenly gain them back and immediately start brawling with alternate versions of heroes he knows. i also like the art in this one, and the character designs overall—leather jacket kon my beloved!
Action Comics (2016) #1020 - 1028 (“House of Kent” arc)
this sequence brings kon back into the kent family fold after the timeline fuckery (and i think follows from the young justice (2019) gemworld arc where they re-find kon?)—so basically it’s kon’s re-introduction to clark, and to lois and jon (who’s visiting from his own future adventure) and kara and martha and jonathan. despite spelling conner’s name two different ways in the span of a few issues, it’s a neat speedrun of different kon+superfam interactions, and also a fun time for anyone who’s a fan of kon being solidly part of the kent family. also: jacket kon is back 🙏
this is not at all an exhaustive list, just some of my favs--happy reading!
#man i'm so excited for MAWS kon. please let him be as annoying as possible#comic rec#kon el#tbh if tim didn't take up so much of my brain i'd probably be knee-deep in a 50k kon/simon concept of some sort#solely spun off from that one scene where kon tells simon that he can't be simon's friend as conner anymore if simon is working w superboy#that made my brain sit up and go Oh? Interesting#comics#asks

Okay, so picture this. SNL. Lex Luthor somehow is slated to host the show with like... Lady Gaga or some shit. Everyone's really curious to see how he does as a host because there are plenty of little clips sprinkled around Youtube about how not funny he is in interviews. Did he pay someone off? Did someone at NBC offer the hosting gig just for the chaos? We'll never know.
Anyways, Lex Luthor goes on to have one of the worst episodes in recent memory. He comes off so stiff when reading from the cards and Cecily Strong is trying so fucking hard not to laugh at how awkward it is.
One clip of him that has been clipped and circled around, a foundational clip in internet lore, is one of Lex Luthor standing with a military-like posture in front of the NBC camera. He gestures to the stage,
"Ladies and Gentleman... Ga-ga."
It's a simple phrase. But the way he says it, with thunder behind every vowel and bared teeth, has been archived forever and traveled from Vine all the way through to modern TikTok. It's the kind of meme that's had a few resurgences throughout the years.
It got bad to the point where Lex spent most of the summer out of the country in Europe keeping his head down. That is also the summer that Clark takes Lois on a long and needed vacation.
That next winter, after the holidays, Bruce Wayne is slated to host with Fall Out Boy or some shit. He ends up hosting the last episode before the show breaks for the season.
Everyone loves him. He is lovely to the whole cast. His inner theater kid comes out and he takes the whole week of his hosting duties seriously.
The best sketch of the night revolves around a trip to some high-end salon where Raul (Bruce with a thin pencil mustache, tight pants, and a silk button-up shirt with his hair slicked straight back) does the exact opposite of whatever any of the female castmates' characters ask for. The wigs are gaudy and it got the laughs. Bruce almost breaks character.
He goes on to do a caricature of himself on Weekend Update with a satin robe and smoking pipe. It makes Seth Meyers catch the giggles while Bruce keeps a straight face the whole time.
Blessedly, the Bat-related sketches that made it to air were tame compared to the ones pitched and rehearsed. Bruce couldn't take it seriously and kept breaking character to the point where they couldn't run through the sketches with Batman even once.
Instead, Batman (Jason Sudeikis), Lex Luthor (an eager Bill Hader) and Bruce Wayne all end up on Weekend Update. Lex Luthor interrupts Bruce in the middle of answering a question from Seth Meyers, desperately getting advice on how to get Superman to notice him.
It's the only time that Bruce breaks character and laughs.
Anyways, it's one of the most loved episodes of modern SNL. His sketches get featured in those little articles that rank the show's hosts. Not only did he become friendly with a lot of the cast and Lorne himself, he's one more show away from ending up in the 5-timers club.

Excerpt from an omegaverse Superfam fic featuring omega!Clark and nursing in pack dynamics, a low-key canon-smash with the Reign of the Supermen movie, and alllll of Kon's self-esteem issues.
Also, a read-more for length.
Clark is in the living room nest with Jon, curled up in the corner of the room with his overshirt unbuttoned and his undershirt pulled up to let Jon nurse while he cradles him in his arms. He's ten now, and Clark knows he's only got a few more years of this at best before Jon goes down the same path every pup does and decides he's too old to nurse from his dam on the regular anymore.
Fortunately, he hasn't decided that yet.
Unfortunately . . .
The front door of the apartment opens and Kon walks in. Clark glances towards him and gives him a reflexive smile. Jon is too distracted nursing to pay attention to anything else; he gets a bit hyper-focused that way, usually.
"Welcome home," Clark greets with cautious optimism, and Kon immediately stiffens.
Kon's . . . maybe twelve or thirteen, physiologically, but not all that much bigger than Jon. Really, not any bigger at all–strangers tend to assume that they're littermates. He's a skinny kid, especially for one with Kryptonian genes who's living under a yellow sun, and just the sight of him standing there in his battered jeans and cheap flannel and the too-loose leather jacket he found in some random downtown thrift shop makes Clark want to feed him up 'til he gains at least a good two pants sizes.
And Kon will eat anything he cooks–even anything Lois cooks, no matter how badly it came out this time–but . . .
Jon huffs out a little milk-scented breath against Clark's chest and shifts in his lap, readjusting to get more comfortable before latching on again to resume nursing.
Kon gets a weird, near-pained expression on his face and just for a second looks like he's going to be sick. Then he beelines for his room without a word.
Clark feels a little nauseous himself, and barely represses a wince. That's the third time this week, so . . .
Well, it's pretty safe to say something about the scent of his milk is putting Kon off. Every time Clark's seen the kid catching it, he's immediately made an excuse to get out of the room. Usually a bad excuse that was very clearly just the first thing he'd thought to blurt out.
Clark doesn't even know if Lex ever gave Kon milk. He doubts he nursed him himself, for a whole lot of very obvious reasons but also the fact that Clark's just never once smelled even the slightest trace of milk on Lex, but if he even provided any kind of formula or a wet nurse or just . . . anything, really? Well, who even knows?
He could ask Kon, obviously, except Kon gets visibly anxious and agitated whenever nursing comes up in even the vaguest terms. Which is understandable, if just the scent of Clark's milk is putting him off enough that he has to keep leaving the room over it. The kid so clearly still thinks they're going to get rid of him at the first given opportunity, and there's no way that he wants to address the elephant in the room that is how very badly he wants away from something that a pup and dam with a more typical relationship would do together all the time–would've been doing together for years.
Kon hasn't even been alive for a year, physiology and education aside.
Clark doesn't know how to tell the kid that he doesn't care if he doesn't want to nurse from him. That it doesn't matter; that it's not a big deal or any kind of a problem.
Mostly because it'd be a lie.
He doesn't love Kon any less. He doesn't begrudge his behavior or hold the very blatant rejection against him. It's not Kon's fault, especially after getting grown in a cloning tube and "raised" by someone like Lex Luthor.
But Clark's still an omega, and one of his pups is still rejecting his milk. And not because he thinks he's too grown-up for it or anything like that, but because it very literally repulses him. So Kon has never even once nursed from Clark; has never even tried to.
So it's not Kon's fault, and Kon isn't doing anything wrong, but Clark still feels, well . . .
Rejected.
The polite thing to do is probably to just keep ignoring it and keep letting Kon avoid the discussion that he so clearly doesn't feel safe or secure enough to have. Clark's tried to broach the subject exactly twice, doing his best to be delicate about the whole thing.
He has very literally seen Kon flee a murderous cyborg slower than he fled those attempted conversations.
Jon drinks his fill and then falls asleep curled up in Clark's lap, which is normal. Jon always gets sleepy when he nurses. Clark fixes his undershirt and tries not to think too much about the fact that he has no idea how Kon gets when he nurses.
Kon might not even know how he'd get, if he had a dam whose milk actually appealed to him. It's entirely possible the kid really never has nursed. Or maybe, well . . .
Clark has the unfair and ugly thought that maybe Lex did nurse Kon at some point, and therefore the reason that Kon doesn't like the scent of his milk is because it's different from Lex's. The thought that maybe every time that Clark looks at the kid and has to resist a let-down reflex, Kon's craving someone else's milk.
Specifically, a "someone else" like Lex Luthor.
And Clark is Superman, and tries to be the best person that he can figure out how to be, and desperately tries not to resent that possibility.
But he's also still an omega. Still a mother. Still . . .
The front door opens again and Lois walks in, and her intensely spicy alpha scent immediately fills up the whole apartment. It's a bit of a relief, since hopefully it'll mean Kon coming back out of his room sooner. Lois's pheromones are one of the few things Clark's encountered that can overpower the scent of an omega's milk without even trying, even to his own enhanced senses.
He never realized that was going to be necessary one day, but he's grateful for it all the same.
"How'd the interview go?" he asks.
"Terribly but illuminatingly," Lois replies cryptically as she strips off her jacket and kicks off her heels, which means someone's probably going to try to murder her later but also she thinks she's on the right track. "Kon home yet?"
"He's in his room," Clark says, wishing he could just call it the kid's den. Kon's still never once scented it like a den, though, and he doesn't want to pressure him about it.
There's a lot of things he doesn't want to pressure Kon about.
"Guess he would be," Lois says, glancing down at Jon's contentedly sleeping face. Given their current position, the fact that they were nursing isn't subtle. "Have you tried talking to him again?"
"Not since the last time," Clark answers with a resigned shake of his head. "I just . . . I don't know how to have the conversation, and he doesn't want to have it, and I . . ."
He trails off, trying not to grimace.
"I feel like I should be helping," Lois sighs, coming over to pet Jon's hair for a few moments, her face softening as he starts to purr sweetly in his sleep. "I know it's not my place to get in the middle of this, you're the omega here, but it's driving me nuts. He's just so damn skinny, Clark!"
"I know," Clark says, trying to ignore the ache in his heart. He was definitely bigger at Kon's age, and Lex isn't built like he was a skinny kid either. That Kon's so small himself, well . . .
It just makes all of Clark's omega instincts rankle, because to those instincts? Kon looks underfed. Malnourished.
Hungry.
Clark's produced more milk than he's ever produced in his life since Kon showed up out of nowhere wearing the El crest and grinned down at him bright and expectant and called him–
Well, he'd called him "Dad", actually, because Clark wears scent blockers with fake pheromones when he's being Superman, and those fake pheromones are specifically fake beta pheromones, because he's long-since decided that Superman should be as calming and neutral a presence as possible. And Kon is still too young to have differentiated himself, so even being partially cloned from him, how would he have known better about Clark's sex or gender?
Kon only called him "Dad" that one time, and he's never once called him "Mom". He's never shown any interest in nursing from him and in fact actively avoids the possibility and will very literally leave the room and sometimes even the apartment to escape the scent of his milk.
And yet, months after that first meeting, Clark is still producing enough of it to feed a damn litter.
His chest has been getting embarrassingly sore, actually. He knows he could pump, and probably should pump, but he doesn't want to make the apartment smell too much like his milk and make Kon have to put up with something he hates so much like that. Not if he can avoid it, at least.
Did Lex ever have this problem, the bastard? Probably not. Probably Kon liked his milk. Probably Kon misses his milk, the poor kid, and Clark can't even give him that much because that would very literally entail asking a supervillain to nurse his pup. And yes, Lex made Kon to begin with, but also Lex can go to hell for how he treated him once he did. As far as Clark is concerned, Kon is his pup. Lois's pup. Jon's brother.
Lex hadn't even named the kid, for god's sake.
That does not make Clark feel better about the possibility of Kon missing the bastard's milk.

a while back i made a recommended reading list for lex luthor, and originally didn't plan to make a superman one, since it's a lot easier to find reading lists for him, but a lot of the reading lists i see either tend to be very short and have the same 5-10 books on them, or feel way too expansive and overwhelming, so i wanted to make a list of some of my personal picks!
this list is designed to help relatively new readers get to know the character, so i've tried to focus mostly on things that are accessible to people with only minimal knowledge of the character/world (with one single exception).
i also have not included any pre-crisis stories because i don't feel like i've read enough pre-crisis content to confidently recommend any specific comics, but i might one day come back and add a section for pre-crisis comics later!
❤️ = Personal favorite
Origin Story
Superman: Birthright, by Mark Waid ❤️
Superman: Birthright is what I would consider to be the definitive modern Superman origin story, featuring modernized versions of many Silver and Bronze age concepts. Mark Waid is, imo, one of the best modern day Superman writers in the sense of really understanding the core of his character, so I would highly suggest starting here for an understanding of who Clark is and what makes him tick. Optional: If you like "Birthright", the presently incomplete "Last Days of Lex Luthor" is a direct follow up to it, also written by Mark Waid, and delves deeper into the complicated relationship between Superman and Lex Luthor.
Superman: Secret Origin, by Geoff Johns
Written a few years after Birthrigh, "Secret Origin" technically supplanted Birthright as the official canon. Like "Birthright", it attempts to modernize many Silver/Bronze Age concepts, though it takes a different route than the aforementioned "Birthright."
Post-Crisis
Superman: Up, Up, and Away, by Geoff Johns & Kurt Busiek
Set after the events of the DC events Infinite Crisis and One Year Later, though it's not necessary to read either to follow this arc. After a year long break from being Superman, Clark returns to the cape. Since Infinite Crisis served as one of many soft-resets for the pre-Flashpoint DCU, it's a solid arc to start with.
Superman: Last Son, by Geoff Johns
Clark learns of another Kryptonian child on Earth and decides to take him in and introduces the character of "Chris Kent." Follows "Up, Up, and Away". This arc technically ran concurrently with the "Camelot Falls" arc, with "Last Son" being the Action Comics storyline and "Camelot Falls" being the "Superman" storyline. (I would recommend reading "Last Son" first, since otherwise you might be confused by Chris's presence in "Camelot Falls".)
Superman: Camelot Falls, by Kurt Busiek ❤️
One of my personal favorite post-Crisis Superman stories. Clark is told that the only way to avert an apocalyptic future is to give up being Superman. One of many, many stories that asks the philosophical question "Do heroes actually make things worse?" but has a very fresh and uplifting take on the premise.
New 52
Action Comics (2011), by Grant Morrison
Grant Morrison's Action Comics is a very sharp departure from the pre-Flashpoint version of Superman, instead choosing to do with the Golden Age what Mark Waid's "Birthright" did with the Silver Age. Morrison's Superman here is significantly more hotheaded and aggressive than the previous decade's version of him, but he's by far the closest to Siegel and Shuster's original vision for the character, so it's worth a read.
Superman: Unchained, by Scott Snyder
A Superman vs the US military story, with art by the legendary Jim Lee. It's a little dark in tone (and in color scheme) for Superman, but pretty in-line with the tone of most n52 books.
Rebirth and Beyond
Superman: Up in the Sky, by Tom King
A story that shows the lengths Superman is willing to go to in order to save one person. Has some very cute interactions between Clark children, and in general really gets the heart of Superman as a character.
The Warworld Saga, by Phillip Kennedy Johnson ❤️
A massive story following Superman to Warworld, where he works to free a group of Kryptonians being kept as gladiatorial slaves. Leans heavily into the idea of Superman as a Moses allegory, with the Authority as supporting cast. Over all a really beautiful story, both in terms of the plot and the art. Imo, the best Superman story from the last decade. Optional: If you like "Warworld" make sure to read the rest of PKJ's Action Comics run. His last issue of Action Comics just dropped recently, so you could absolutely sit down and binge the whole three-year run straight through.
Batman/Superman: World's Finest (2021 - ongoing), by Mark Waid
Set during the early years, featuring Superman, Batman, Robin (Dick Grayson), and occasionally Supergirl. In true Mark Waid fashion, it pulls heavily from the Silver Age, and manages to balance Silver Age campiness with more modern storytelling. (If you're a Superbat fan and you're somehow not reading this already, you should be.)
Superman (2023 - ongoing), by Joshua Williamson ❤️
The current running Superman arc. Another soft-reset for the Superman canon, meant to serve as an easy starting place for new readers. Beautiful art, hopeful and uplifting, and features my personal favorite take on the Lex in the comics, which should really tell you something. Optional: Action Comics issue #1050 sets up some things for this comic, but you won't lose much by skipping it.
Self-Contained Stories
Superman Smashes the Klan, by Gene Luen Yang ❤️
A YA graphic novel based on an old radio show. Set during the 1940s during Superman's early years, and really takes Superman back to his roots as a champion of the oppressed. If you read no other book on this list, please read this one. It's a quick and easy read and gets right to the heart of who and what Superman is.
Superman: For All Seasons, by Jeph Loeb
A story spanning four stages of Clark's life, with gorgeous artwork by the incomparable Tim Sale. Delves into Clark's relationships with most of the important people in his life, including his parents, Lois, and Lex.
Superman: Secret Identity, by Kurt Busiek
A meta twist on the Superman story with a boy in the real world develops Superman-like powers and has to grapple with what that means for him and what to do with those powers. A really excellent deconstruction of Superman.
All-Star Superman, by Grant Morrison
Superman, upon being told he has only a few days to live, chooses how to spend the rest of days. Widely regarded as one of the greatest Superman stories of all time, but features a lot of deep cut lore and will resonate more if you're more familiar with the characters. This is the one book I would not recommend starting with. Also leans heavily on the Silver Age canon.
#clark kent#superman#dc comics#comic recs#reading list#i will go back in and add pre-crisis recs at some point too

Ace Reporter - part 2
Supergirl, Kara Danvers x Reader!, Lena Luthor x Reader!
Word Count: 1790
Part 1
Kara Danvers is the worst. No, for real. She is the worst human being ever.
She thinks she is so much smarter and astute at investigating things and that it just comes naturally and easy to her for some goddamn reason.
She never once thinks it is because she dazzles everyone with her smile and handsome features. Never even acknowledges that her kindness just makes people want to be kind in return.
No. Kara Danvers just seems to think that clues and information fall on her lap because she’s so good at what she does and ugh, you hate her. Just hate her stupid cardigans, the constant fixing up her glasses, the way her mouth is pink and soft and kissable, how her hair falls perfectly in beautiful waves and how kind her blue eyes are.
You absolutely hate her and cannot wait to never have to work with her again.
“Hm.” Kara stares at the board of clues that you two put together, with so much intent like some new clue will just appear in it if she wishes hard enough. Silly goose. She eats more fries and speaks mouthful. “Do you actually think this fake account could be a clue? Honestly, it's a terrible pseudonym, you'd think Lex Luthor would be smarter than this.”
How does Kara Danvers eat so much and looks so fit? Like that girl eats like an army of men, and yet she is as fit as you wish you were in your wildest dreams. You’ve been hanging with Kara for a week or so and you never saw her going to the gym. How are her arms so strong and perfectly shaped?
“Y/N? Hello? Can you please chime in with your clever comments and incredible ability on finding other people’s secrets?”
Kara Danvers says things like that. They all sound like a compliment and she might just be really nice, but you don’t trust her. She clearly does things like that so she could come in at the last second and steal a prize from you and give you her thousand-dollar-winning smile.
“Sometimes I think you have a secret.” You go back to looking at the board. You have been staring at something else completely for the past minutes. To Kara’s muscular back and the body part that’s close-by. "Some other times I'm sure."
“Ha ha.” She looks back at you, not amused. “You’re not here to investigate me. So I’d appreciate it if you focused on Lex.”
You grin devilish. “I can do both.” You finally stand, cleaning your greasy hands on your pants, and you give a few steps forward. You never once stop staring at her, though. "You're lying."
"What?" She barks, confused. "I'm not lying."
"Oh Kara." This is the first time you've used her name instead of the Danvers, so she is taken aback by it. "You sound like Clark when I start sniffing around his secrets. Actually, come to think of it, you are exactly like Clark. Disappears, comes back all disheveled like you were just making out in a random closet." She opens her mouth but you cut her out first. "Of course Clark has Lois to blame it on, and you don't." You raise an eyebrow at her. "Unless…" You smirk at her wide eyes, and mouth agape. "No, sweet Kara Danvers wouldn't make out in a random closet."
You poke her muscular arm and are met with rock solid biceps. How?
"Kara Danvers is a romantic. Let me guess, candle lit dinners where you eat most of the food," You look at her incredibly defined abdomen. "and it just disappears into the void you have on your stomach."
"Hey! I just like eating. Not fair shaming people for their love of food."
You smile and go on, ignoring the interruption. "Then you invite your date for a movie, only for it to be discarded halfway through it while you make out on the couch. Respectfully, of course. I'm guessing heavy make out sessions only happen after the third date with explicit consent."
Kara raises her eyebrows, and you might not know her that well, but you know what that look means. She finally thought of a comeback. "Sounds like you're planning a date, Y/L/N. Let me guess, you want me to ask you out?"
You scoff at the idea. Why would you go out with the one girl who's literally a pain in your ass? "You wish, Danvers. When I'm done with this piece you will never see me again."
"What a shame." She gives you her best fake smile, which is still pretty cute. But you would be caught dead before admitting this to anyone else. "Now would you mind going back to the one thing you should be working on?"
So you go back to the board and finally start working. It's late at night, everyone at CatCo has left by now, and Kara already ate more than half of the burgers you two ordered, and you're pretty sure she is taking a nap while pretending to read those documents, when you finally crack it.
"EUREKA!" You yell, excited with your own discovery.
Kara snaps her head up, a half eaten fries drop from her mouth, and yes, you might have yelled just to confirm your suspicion of her falling asleep while you two were working, but hey! You were right when you notice that her eyes take a while to focus back on you.
"What?" Kara clears the papers in front of her, gets up in a hurry making her way to you. "What happened?"
"Well, I know where Lex is. But most importantly, I have confirmation that you were napping while I worked!"
Kara rolls her eyes at you, looking back at the board. "Will you take this seriously?"
"I'm sorry, did I not just find out right this second where the hell Lex Luthor is hidden?" You point to the board and mumble right after, "not Clark fucking Kent aka the super-" Kara's eyes widen at you, "daily planet reporter, not even Kara fucking Danvers aka prize-awardee. Nope. Just little old me."
"Ok, well." She ignores everything you just said, focusing on the word Kaznia written in front of her. "Better call Lena about it."
You go back to the desk, taking a sip of your drink while listening to their conversation. A while later, Kara looks back at you.
"Alright. I guess Lena and I are going to Kaznia."
You get up from the chair immediately, "The hell you are!" She furrows her brows to your sudden outburst. "Like hell you are going to debunk me from this piece, Danvers. I know you've been dying to steal the spotlight all to yourself, but not this time. Once is more than enough."
"What are you even- You know what, it doesn't matter. You can come too. I wasn't just going to assume you were dying to go to Kaznia when you've been wanting nothing but to go back to Metropolis and be done with working with me."
You narrow your eyes at her. Yeah, right. She is being thoughtful and considerate. Suuuure.
"Well I'm not dying to keep going with neither, but I'm as involved in this as you are. So I guess we're stuck together until the end."
"Great!" She doesn't even look disappointed about it. Is her smile actually genuine? Unless she is the greatest actress of all time, which you don't think she is. "Call your editor, pack your bags. The Ace Reporters are on the case."
"Did you just give us a team name?" Kara looks so proud of herself, you can't bring yourself to be your usual mean self and roast her for it. So you just shrug. "It's fine, I guess."
"But our catchphrase won't be Eureka."
"It's not a catchphrase, you weirdo. I just wanted to prove you were asleep while I solved the case."
"Yes, Y/N, you are the best detective. You are so much better than me at it. You're so much better than me at everything."
You narrow your eyes at her, obviously not believing in her at all, while you two make your way to the elevator.
"Glad you found it in you to admit it." You snark back, while she simply smiles. Fucking ass nerd.
The elevator dings and you and Kara make your way inside. It's so late, you can feel sleep creeping up on you. You can also feel Kara's eyes burning a hole into you, so you finally snap your head up to her and she shuffles uncomfortably when you bark the question, "What?"
"No-Nothing." Her cheeks redden and you roll your eyes. She reaches for your arm, but doesn't really touch you. You can feel the ghost touch, and yet nothing comes. And even though you hate her, you can't help it but to feel disappointed she didn't actually follow through with it.
"Hey," she barely whispers a few seconds later. "What did you mean by debunking you from this piece and stealing the spotlight again?"
You stare at her, wide eyes like a deer caught in the red light. You didn't expect you'd ever have to explain to Kara Danvers why you hate her. And you certainly thought that if you did, you would have more reasons to add into the mix instead of only, 'you (probably) wrote a better article than I did, about the same thing, so they gave you a prize that I (probably) didn't deserve anyway'.
"I don't think we've met before." She goes on, when you don't say anything for a few seconds and the silence stretches out uncomfortably in the elevator. "Sure, I've met a lot of people, but I don't think I'd forget meeting you."
It's the way she says it that leaves no margin for you to wonder what she means by it. She means you, because there's something about you. You breathe deep, biting your tongue.
"I didn't mean anything." So you lie and hate yourself for it, but also can't bring yourself to tell the truth at all. "I guess I'm just used to having to fight to see my name in the byline." So you give her a half-true to make up for it.
"Not with me, you don't. Not when you're so good at finding other people's secrets." You give her a thankful and truthful smile that you weren't able to fight it. Not when it's so late at night, and you're feeling incredibly high and happy about your recent discovery.
"You were wrong about one thing though," The elevator dings, Kara steps out, but turns around to look at you. "I'd make out in a closet too if you were my Lois."
The elevator door closes on your dumbstruck face, and it takes you more time than you'd like to admit for you to press the button for the door to open again. When you finally do, Kara is no longer on the other side.

Look out, it's time for the Potted Fanon History of the one, the only...BRUCE WAYNE!
Bruce, 8: His parents were shot dead by [Someone/Joe Chill/the Mafia] outside the theatre in Park Row where they just saw Zorro. Kneeling in blood, pearls, etc etc.
Bruce, 8: Jim Gordon was the cop who responded to the scene and took care of Bruce.
Bruce, 8: Alfred takes custody of Bruce and they live in the Manor together.
Bruce, 12-16 (optional): Bruce attends school with people like Oliver Queen and Lex Luthor (at a boarding school), or Zatanna and Harvey Dent (at a regular Gotham school). Bruce is known as the cryptid who hides in the library reading forensic pathology textbooks in his free time.
Bruce, 16-18: Bruce finishes school and embarks on a Secret World Training Tour. Highlights of the Tour definitely involve the League of Assassins and probably several nameless monks. Bruce may have an intense homoerotic relationship with Minhkhoa Khan. The following individuals may be namechecked but are unlikely: [Shiva, David Cain, Henri Ducard, Richard Dragon]
Bruce, World Training Tour Edition: Bruce will first meet Talia at this time, and they may get married/conceive Damian. Do not look at the timeline too closely.
Bruce, early-mid 20s: returns to Gotham, is reminded that he is scared of bats. "Yes father, I will become...a Bat!"
Bruce, early-mid 20s: has encounter with An Individual (name varies, solidifying to 'Red Hood' these days as everyone's hung up on Jason) in the ACME Chemical company vats, the other person falls into the chemicals. The Joker is born hahahahahahahHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Bruce, mid 20s: meets Superman and Clark Kent, they simultaneously figure each other's identities out. Shortly after they form the Justice League with Wonder Woman.
Bruce, mid 20s: Bruce goes out for the night to see Haly's Circus when it visits town. Graysons fall, Bruce sees crying kneeling Dick Grayson and immediately imprints on him and takes him home.
Bruce, mid 20s: Dick Grayson becomes Bruce's Ward (TM). Dick also becomes Robin. They swear an Oath (TM) by candlelight to "fight together against crime and corruption and never to swerve from the path of righteousness!" (Actually I don't think the words of the oath are that well known but I couldn't help myself)
Bruce, mid 20s: has many undetailed adventures with Dick. I cannot reinforce how big a blank hole this period is.
Bruce, early 30s ish: Bruce runs into Talia and sleeps with her again (as written by people who CAN count to 10)
Bruce, 30s: Dick gets injured during a fight. Maybe with Joker, maybe with Two-Face, quite possibly with no details. Bruce tries to ground Dick for his own good. Bruce and Dick have a big fight over Dick being an adult now and you can’t tell me what to do. End result: Dick is no longer Robin and moves out (to Blüdhaven). Bruce immediately sulks.
Bruce, 30s: Batman parks his Batmobile in the middle of Crime Alley and comes back to find the tyres being jacked. The teenager attempting this then hits Batman with a tyre iron. Bruce, missing Dick yelling at him, is immediately charmed and takes Jason home and proceeds to instantly adopt him and make him Robin.
Bruce, 30s: Bruce learns about classism from Jason. Bruce Wayne, a man with the biggest charities running in Gotham, years of criminology experience and who travelled the poorest parts of the world in his quest for training, had never contemplated that poor people commit crime because they’re poor and the laws are against them. This rocks his world.
Bruce, 30s: Bruce fails to call Dick to tell him about his new adopted Jason!Robin. Dick comes over to have a screaming match with Bruce in the Manor/Cave about this. These will be a regular feature of Jason’s entire time as Robin.
Bruce, late 30s: Felipe Garzonas occurs. Bruce accuses Jason of killing Garzonas. Bruce will shortly feel intense guilt for this.
Bruce, late 30s: Jason runs away to Ethiopia and is blown by the Joker in a warehouse. Bruce arrives just out of time, to find Jason's body. He is devastated and blames both himself and Jason. He takes Jason's body back to Gotham where there is an autopsy. Joker just disappears with no trace.
Bruce, late 30s: gets more and more violent in his despair over Jason's death. Tim comes to him to explain why Batman is going off the rails and offers to be Robin.
Bruce, middle aged (don't look too closely): Bruce accepts Tim as his new Robin, however insists they are Just Coworkers. He may still be suicidal at times. He probably calls Tim 'Jason' by accident. He insists he never wants to be close to another child again.
Bruce, middle aged: Bruce comes face to face with Bane, who Breaks His Back (TM). Bruce then recovers. This is a very important moment, however any details of the recovery or who was Batman in the interim are unknown. Good job, Gotham healthcare services set up by Thomas Wayne!
Bruce, middle aged: Bruce becomes worried about Tim's parents (as he's reluctantly become attached to Tim). They are never around, which is how Tim manages to be Robin. They are definitely neglecting him. They might be abusing him! Bruce either fosters Tim because of his terrible neglectful parents OR Janet dies and Jack ends up in a coma and Bruce fosters Tim. Either way, Bruce becomes Tim's guardian.
Bruce, middle aged: there's a new crime lord in Gotham called the Red Hood. Batman must track him down. Bruce discovers that this is Jason. Jason begs for Bruce to kill the Joker to avenge his death and Bruce refuses because He Has A Code. Bruce throws a batarang at Jason's neck and slits his throat.
Bruce, JLA edition: at some point Bruce made some Protocols, or possibly some Killer Robots, just in case someone else on the Justice League goes evil. The rest of the Justice League find this out, due to this situation going wrong and the plans being activated by something. Everyone on the Justice League gets very upset with Bruce.
Bruce, middle aged: at some point Bruce adopts Dick and Tim and Cass. Details of when or where are scanty. They're his kids now. Everyone moves into the Manor (except Dick, who visits from Bludhaven every weekend to see his siblings).
Bruce, middle aged: Talia drops Damian off on the doorstep. Bruce now has a (biological) son! Unfortunately Ra's Al Ghul wants to steal his body. Damian must be protected.
Bruce, middle aged: dies. How does this happen? What are you, a cop? Fortunately Bruce being ultraprepared for anything including incipient death, he has left extensive notes about who deals with what when he's dead. Dick gets custody of Damian (but only Damian). Tim gets Wayne Enterprises.
Bruce, middle aged: returns from being lost in time (not dead). Thanks, Tim. No I will not return to being the main Batman in Gotham or take back Wayne Enterprises, it's time for me to travel the world and create Batman Incorporated in every nation on Earth!
Bruce, middle aged: eventually returns home and moves back into the Manor. Damian is now his Robin. Everyone else may still be living in the Manor, may have moved out because of Sad Conflict Drama because Tim feels like he's Just A Coworker or Cass is In Hong Kong. Dick may or may not return to Bludhaven now.
Bruce, middle aged: begins to reconcile with Jason, because he finds out about Jason's Pit Rage and trauma. Jason promises to use Rubber Bullets or to just shoot people in the knee, and says he will patrol Crime Alley because nobody else understands it and the people inside it like him. Bruce is just fine with this.
Bruce, middle aged (Damian edition): Damian dies. Bruce is extremely distraught about this due to his trauma over Jason and immediately works to hunt down a way to resurrect Damian.
Bruce, middle aged: meets Duke and seeing another teenager who is trying to fight crime, immediately brings him home to foster/adopt.
Bruce, Good Dad edition: at some point Bruce has Seen A Therapist and gotten Therapy. He is now completely au fait with the latest things you read online about complex PTSD and is sorry for the hurt he has ever caused any of his children. He goes around talking his children down from disassociation and panic attacks and nightmares. He wraps them up in weighted blankets and watches TV shows You Like with them. He has a new Ace, who is a Therapy Dog for Trauma. When someone has a bad night the entire family sleeps in his giant bed as a sleepover. He is completely focused on the mental health of his children.
Bruce, Bad Dad edition: Bruce has punched Dick/Jason/Tim/Damian (choose whichever set you want) in the face and accused them of not following orders. He has rages and demanding expectations on everyone. Multiple of his children can no longer put up with it any more. He does bad things to them and says it's for their own good.
Bruce, currently: Bruce is a Good Dad! Everyone is either living at the Manor or stays over after patrol regularly. They have regular movie nights. Bruce is actively running Wayne Enterprises. If he sees an unattached teenage vigilante anywhere he might adopt them and bring them home too! He looks after all the associated Gotham vigilantes and does not know what money is worth. This is hilarious as he tips 3000% or whatever on every purchase.
Bruce, currently (alternatively): Bruce is a Bad Dad! After failing his children nobody wants to be near him and he needs to apologise to all his children so they forgive him. Bruce has left Damian for Dick to raise all by himself (that's ok, Dick is really Damian's adoptive dad) and Tim to struggle with the pressure of being a high school dropout CEO of Wayne Enterprises. He is fighting with Jason over the One Killing Rule and won't compromise, even to kill the Joker, despite Jason desperately wanting that proof that Bruce loves him more than he loves the killing rule.
Bruce, currently: Bruce is dating one of Selina, Talia, Clark or Minhkhoa. Whichever on this list he is dating, he would never ever consider getting with Selina and/or Talia again (delete whoever necessary).
#potted bat fanon histories#apologies for the delay but Bruce took some effort#additions for this edition are welcomed#bruce you have done everything (and nothing)

A gift from Cadmus Pt.4
Lex gently caressed his face as he finished up the last of his nightly skincare routine. The man wrapped his silk robe around his body and made his way to his bed. At his bedside, a duplicate of the rose he gave Y/n illuminated a soft glow. Using Magic wasn’t really his style, But it was the only way he could successfully invade Y/N’s mind. Gaining her trust will be far from easy.
He smiled before dragging down his sleeping mask. “Active dreamer aren’t we? Let’s see what’s on that mind of yours child.”
Darkness. As far as the eye could see. Y/n flew to where she thought was up but there was nothing. The silence calmed her in a way. No responsibility, no need to try for anything, y/n was free to just… exist. As she floated around the empty space she heard the sound of static, as if an old tv was turning on. The bright screen turned on above Y/n shocking the poor girl. As her eyes adjusted to the sudden brightness On the screen Bruce stood with his back facing hers. She attempted to speak, but no sound was heard. Y/n pressed her hands on the screen and slammed it with all her might to no avail.
“She’s going to cover for me. She’s been doing it anyway. You just don’t let her-”
Y/n felt comfortable hearing Jasons voice, But Bruce shook his head “absolutely not. She’d be useless.”
Useless?
Confused y/n attempted to call out to her family again.
“No, she’s too dangerous. A weapon cannot be controlled.”
A new being entered the screen. Now Clark stood next to Bruce. He too had his back facing her.
Y/n felt her chest tighten. It was hard to breathe, what was she watching? Why can’t she speak? She gripped her chest this was too much.
Connor, Tim, and Dick appeared behind Jason. Y/n noticed string behind Connor. When she followed it her ragged breathing worsened. Y/N’s body suddenly jerked backwards. It was as if someone had yanked her hair to see the bigger picture. Y/N’s eyes widened at the very giant Megan holding onto marionette handles.
She laughed “this is for your own good Y/n”
No. No no NO!
Y/n stepped back, horrified by the imagery in front of her. He pressed her hands on her head. laughter, random chatter, even car honks could be heard.
Y/n couldn’t take it. She fell to her knees “stop. Stop it. I’m not useless, I can help. It’s not my fault. I’m trying!”
The crescendo of the noise drove her mad. But all sound fell silent as A gentle hand was placed on top of her head. Y/n shook at her spot, the sudden silence startling her.
“It’s alright child. I’m here. I am proud.”
Y/n shakily looked up. Lex knelt infront of her with a gentle smile on his face “it’s ok.” He caresses her hair, the action greatly calming her. Her breathing still uncontrollable, eyes blurring her vision. Y/n pounced, hugging the bald man.
Lex was stunned. He didn’t expect her to… hug him. He slowly brought his hands down, returning the hug.
“They call you a weapon because they fear you Y/n. It’s human nature to fear what they do not understand.”
Y/n attempted to speak again but no volume could be heard. Lex’s words were cool as he continued to gently caress the girls head. Y/N’s breathing began to calm. Accepting the comfort.
“They’re right. You are a weapon. But a strong one child.”
Lex rose her head and wiped her fallen tears. Y/N’s crying quelled as she looked at his facial features. She saw no lie in his words.
“Show them how strong you are. Prove to them that you are worth their time! Ill always be here for you dear girl.”
6 Hours till…
Y/n gasped as she woke from her surreal nightmare. Her hands tightly gripped the sheets, looking around the unfamiliar room. Beads of sweat dripped down her face.
Disgusted, Y/n wiped her face with the sheets. She heard the sounds of birds chirping outside the window. A roosters crowing accompanied the sound. “How did I get here?”
Y/n remembered last night. Only Alfred showed up to her show. Alfred and Lex Luthor…
Beside the bed the mechanical flower bloomed and rotated slightly, grabbing Y/n attention. Gold, silver, ruby, diamond. All kinds of gems were bedazzled from the petals to the stem. Y/n gently picked up the flower, her eyes soaked in the beautiful creation. It calmed her as she remembered her dream.
Y/n brought the artificial plant close to her face “You’re beautiful”
The flower opened wider, it tilted its petals side to side. Y/n giggled “you’re sentient? Well. I know plants are but you are clearly not like any normal plant.”
The flower swayed from side to side as if it were responding to her. Y/n bit her bottom lip. Connor had sphere and wolf. This was hers. It didnt matter that Lex gave it to her. The door opened slightly starting the girl. She held the flower close as she turned her head to the entrance of the room. Clark wore his very classic blue and white stripped pajamas “hey. You’re up early.”
Y/n held the flower closer to her. Shifting her weight “Had a bad dream.”
“May I come in?”
Y/n looked down. To her surprise the flower closed up. It was wilted again which greatly confused her.
“Sure…”
Clark entered, the soft yellow light from the hallway dimly lit up the room. When he sat on the bed the mattress tilted slightly. “It’s 6am.”
Y/n nodded her head slightly “the early bird gets the worm.”
Clark looked at the glass jar that housed the wilted flower. “Lex is a dangerous man.”
Y/n didn’t respond. Nor did she make eye contact.
“He always has something up his sleeve. Be weary y/n I don’t think that’s safe.”
A dry chuckled escaped her lips “you speak like you’re any better.” Y/n began lightly tapping the glass.
“I’m sorry?”
Y/n finally looked up at him. She began tapping her temple with her index finger “you know what was taken from me. You know why I can’t participate in missions. It’s cause I’m a weapon.” Y/n slightly tilted her head “right?”
Clark froze. An anxious feeling loomed over him. “I don’t know what you mean y/n. Are you ok?”
Y/n felt… good. She made The man of steel stress. A soft knock caught the attention of both beings. Louis stood at the door with breakfast on a mini table. “You must be hungry Y/n.”
Louis looked at Clark’s tense shoulders “I didn’t interrupt anything did I?”
Y/n smiled. She playfully shook her head “nope. Uncle Clark and I were just talking.” Y/n got up from bed and took the breakfast tray with ease she placed the flower on the corner “thank you for the breakfast.”
Y/n left the two alone. Clark let out an exasperated sigh as he brushed his fingers through his hair. Louis sat beside him, placing a hand on his stiff shoulders. “Are you ok?”
“Something wrong with Y/n.”
~~ 3 hours till~
The football game was frustrating. It was already bad enough to play in a team that underestimated her because she was a girl. She watched the ball get intercepted by the opponent and groaned. “You guys suck.”
“Well I don’t see you doing anything princess!”
Y/N’s eye twitched. She began hopping in place stretching her arms. At the sound of the whistle their opponent got another point.
Y/n can see clark in the distance throw his hat down. “C’mon! Get the ball!” Other parents from her team commented on Clark’s behavior, making y/n smile but only for a short while.
As the team set up for the last play. The quarterback attempted to push Y/n. Unfortunately for him, he bumped into what felt like steel. Y/n turned “pass me the ball.” She poked his chest hard “if you want to win”
“Whatever freak.”
Clark heard the interaction and frowned. “You got this Y/n!” He clapped his hands in the hopes of motivating the girl. But her eyes, even from here he could see the cold sneer she gave him.
“Down… set… HIKE”
Y/n felt the ground beneath her sink as she channeled her strength to her calves then her feet. She skillfully dodged her opponents making herself wide open. Y/n watched the ball fly over her prompting her to run faster.
“Bruce please.”
“Not now Alfred.”
“If not now when?”
Y/n heard Alfred and Bruce crystals clear. She looked around but they weren’t here.
“Y/N! The ball!”
Y/n looked up. She came up short, the girl jumped making contact with the ball with her fingertips but it tipped over. Y/n landed on her back with a hard thud. The grass pricked at her skin.
No, she can’t loose. Not like this. Not when Clark is watching. The world watching.
“Is she ok?”
“What an idiot”
“Waisted talent.”
Noise. More noise. Everything moved in slow motion as the football fell. The sound of the whistle ten times louder. Cheers and frustration all around. Y/n felt dizzy, she covered her ears as the noise intensified. Everything was too loud.
“Pass the ball~ useless!” A teammate mocked.
The team crowded the poor girl. She brought her body as close a she could, like a ball.
“what the hell y/n I thought you said you had it?”
“Princess of Gothem? More like a spoiled brat.”
Y/n pressed her hands to her ears as tightly she could. This was super hearing. Somehow she unlocked a new ability. And this one was annoying. However, she did hear Bruce and Alfred. Meaning she has enough range to listen to what they were currently saying. Y/n took deep breaths, ignoring all the noise, searching for the one thing she wanted to hear.
Clark pushed her so called team out the way. His hight was intimidating as he looked down on her peers “leave.”
Some blew a raspberry while others scurried off to their coach. Clark knelt down “Y/n what’s happening.”
The girl sucked her teeth. She looked at his offered hand and slapped it away before standing up herself.
The Kryptonian was taken aback with the response “hey… you did great out there im sure the next season wills be-“
“Where’s my rose?”
Clark straightened his posture “in the car. Y/n what’s going on?”
Y/n pressed a hand to her ear “It would seem I’ve acquired super hearing. Now if you’ll excuse me.”
Y/n attempted to move past Clark but he stepped in front of her “sorry… given your behavior I’m not letting you go near that thing.”
“Not… letting.. me.”
Clark watched as Y/n knelt on one knee. Maybe the pain of the superhearing was getting too much? This could be a great teaching moment.
Y/n made sure her cleats were firmly on the grass “who said I needed your permission.”
It happened fast. So fast in fact you’d probably mistake her for a speedster. Y/n slammed all of her strength on her left foot, not caring for the multiple eye witnesses. She needed to leave. She needed her rose. She needed to know what the hell Bruce and Alfred were talking about.
Clark saw everything but he didn’t move. If he wanted to he could catch up to her but when and how did she have such skill with her powers. Connor didn’t even possess that level of skill when he came out his pod.
Clark reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone:
“Bruce. Something wrong with Y/n call me”
**Send** ~Meanwhile~
Bruce interlocked his fingered looking upon the many screens.
One of them was a text from Clark. He didn’t read it but he did notice Y/n. Many cases consumed him, he was thankful Tim had been helping. However, no Jason. His son decided it would be best if he stole on of his motorcycles.
“One night Bruce. The ONE night you promised to show up and you’ve failed.”
Alfred’s words were snappy and cold. His disappointment strong. Bruce didn’t turn around to face him. Instead he leaned back “I’m sorry Alfred. I’ll make it up to her when I’m done.”
“W-what make it up to her? You’ll need to do more then that Bruce. She cried for you. Don’t you understand? That child has been carrying a burden all this time and you think it’ll be easy to make it up to her?”
The room fell silent once more. Of course Bruce had nothing to say.
“Of all people Lex Luthor made an appearance.”
Now Bruce was paying attention. He turned in his seat to face the Butler “what did he want?”
Alfred closed his eyes “nothing Bruce. He did something that you should have done. He even gave her a gift that-“
“And you let her keep it?”
Bruce turned back around facing a computer. He typed some things to see a red dot moving particularly fast, leaving metropolis “I thought you said she was with Clark…” Alfred also looked at the screen. He felt slight unease watching the tracker weave around “I left her there for the night. Something mustve happened in the game.”
Another alert popped up on the screen, a broadcast all throughout Ghothem. Bruce’s face fell at the horror that was on his screen.
“Oh batsyyy! I got one of your little birds~” The Joker sang ~~~
2 hours till…
Connor placed both hands on his face. The sounds of his team scrambling to find both Jason and Y/n was unnerving.
“Its ok, we’ll find them” Megan placed a hand on his hoping to calm connor down but it didnt work.
“I missed her game, I wasn’t even invited to her end of the year performance because of how busy ive been.” Connor stood “This is no time to be sitting here.
The zeta tubes announced Y/n’s presence. Connor and Megan quickly went to the entrance but were shocked at Y/n’s appearance.
She wore the same black domino mask that the rest of the bats use on her face. A black dress with white shoes and a Flower circled around her, the most off thing she wore however were the thick noise canciling headphones.
Megan stopped moving but Connor approached his younger sister giving her a big hug “where have you been?we’ve been looking everywhere for you.”
Megan noticed the lack of response from the girl. Her eyes cold and locked on to hers. She didnt even return the hug her brother gave. Majority of young Justice were present.
“Y/n cant know about whats happening with Jason. Keep her clear from the mission room.” Dick spoke through the mind link.
“Connor, get away from her. Somethings not right.”“Whats wrong?”“Y/n is acting totally strange. Theres also a creepy flower circling her.”Dick saw Zetannas face fell “Im on my way. Dont anger at all.”As she turned to leave Dick grabbed her arm “what do you know?”
“That flower could very much be a Familiar that amplifies negative emotions. How the hell could she have gotten something like that?” Connor heard everything that was said through the mind link. He slowly stood, but when he attempted to move away Y/n took his hand in hers.
“I would love to show you something big brother. Its about your girlfriend.” Y/n held onto connors hand in a vice grip. Y/n began walking to the living area “You too Megan, I dont want you left out.”
Connor and Megan looked at each other then back at Y/n. “Sit, get comfy.” Unbeknownst to them Y/n was all kinds of excited. Today would be the day she would expose the martian for all her misdeeds. She connected the laptop to the television and skillfully hacked into their cameras. Magan noticed the dates she was inputting and stood “Y/n what are you doing.”
Y/n’s grin was wide when she pressed play. The two watched as Magan erased Connors memories all thoes years ago.
“Its for your own good” Y/n said at the same time as Megan did in the video. Connor looked to His girlfriend then back to the screen. “What is this?”
Y/n couldnt contain her giggle. She pressed another button to show The meeting. Magan stood “Its not what it looks like Connor.”
He ignored her and continued to watch the screen with Y/n. she continuously tapped her temple with her finger “She played us Connor. She’s the reason why I can join missions. She used you Connor.”
Zettanna finally showed herself. She casted a spell towards Y/n but the girl was fast. Y/n lifted one of her legs and slammed it to the ground initiating her flight. “Problem?”
“Y/n give me the flower now.”
Y/n held onto her stomach as she laughed. The kid of maniacal laughter youd hear a villain do “Lex gave this to me. He was the only one that bothered to show up at my performance.”
Connor glared at Megan, the teen attempted to reach to him only for him to back away “We’re done”
He didnt let her speak as he himself jumped up to grab his sister. To his surprise it worked. When connor landed Zetanna ran up to them and grabbed the flower.
“Let me go! Connor! I showed you the truth and this is how you treat me!”
“Y/n stay still. This isnt like you.” Connor couldnt believe the strength his sister was dishing out. Zetanna grabbed the flower and threw it down right in front of her. Y/N let out a horrible scream as a black cloud left her body. Dick and Kalduer, all ran out to the scene. Connor finally let go and layed on his back breathing heavy. She was way too strong for a girl that size. Y/n crawled to the broken flower. Her quiet sobs grew as she tried to fix it “Why… why why why WHY! Its not… SHEs the one that ruined everything! Not me” Y/n screamed again at the loss of her new companion before bolting towards Megan. The martian flew high to dodge as best she could but Y/n grabbed her ankle and threw her to the other side of the room.
Dick couldnt belive the sight of his preciouse sister. She was animalistic in a way. He reached into his shoe and pulled out Kryptonite. Y/n’s knees wobbled as she fell to the floor.
“You too…”
All this betrayal. Y/n felt her heart tightened as the people who she once called family look at her like she was the monster. The only person who cared it seemed were Alfred and Jason. Y/n’s fetal attempt of escape was sad.
“Guys I found where the jokers keeping Jason!” Garfield came running out with a proud smile only for him to see the state of everyone.
Y/n looked up. Dick turned letting his guard down only slightly. Jason was taken. By the Joker. No… no way in hell will she let anything happen to someones whos had her back all this time. “Where. Is he…”
Dick Finally looked down at his sister while still holding onto the Kryptonite. She felt a light pinch on her neck before everything went black. Dick put the stone away, picking her up. “I'll take her to the cave… inform Batman about this.

Marvel vs. DC - Amalgam
Marvel and DC, two of the most renowned comic book companies in the world, joined forces in 1996 to create the Amalgam Universe and the Versus lineup.
In video games, particularly in the fighting game genre, these comic book superheroes have crossed over with other franchises. Marvel characters, for example, have gone up against characters from Capcom—a video game company with an extensive catalog of titles. However, in their storyline, they often join forces to face a common enemy.
DC, on the other hand, clashed with the characters from Mortal Kombat, developed by the former Midway Games. Their narrative revolves around the two sides battling each other before ultimately uncovering the true cause of their conflict.
In the Versus miniseries, the storyline centers around two cosmic entities compelling the characters to fight one another, only for the heroes to eventually unite and stop the entities from destroying each other.
In the spirit of Amalgam Comics and my love for crossovers, I'm proposing the idea of a Marvel vs. DC fighting game that could be developed by Capcom.
It could have been an either/or situation—either Capcom or NetherRealm Studios—but since NetherRealm is still owned by Warner Bros., DC's current parent company, it wouldn't be a fair arrangement for Marvel characters.
I propose a roster of 27 characters for the fighting game. Capcom’s very first Marvel fighting game featured 13 playable characters, while Midway’s first DC fighting game included 23 playable characters, 11 of which were from DC.
Admittedly, this might seem ambitious, especially since Capcom’s recent releases typically feature 16–18 base characters. Adding 9–11 more might push the limits, but it’s necessary to ensure a balanced and diverse roster.
Here’s how the roster would break down: Marvel and DC would each have 10 characters, making up the core lineup. Five additional characters would come from the Amalgam Universe, paying homage to the classic crossover. The final two would be guest fighters—Ryu from Street Fighter and Liu Kang from Mortal Kombat—a nod to the first fighting game crossovers these characters were part of.
Let's start with the Amalgam characters:
Amazon - Princess Ororo of Themyscira (Amalgamation of Wonder Woman and Storm)
Nabu the Ancient One (Amalgamation of Nabu and the Ancient One)
Huntress (Amalgamation of DC's Huntress and Captain Marvel - Carol Danvers)
The White Witch Wanda Zatara (Amalgamation of Zatanna Zatara and Wanda Maximoff)
Catsai (Amalgamation of Catwoman and Elektra)
Marvel Characters:
Captain America - Steve Rogers
Thor - Thor Odinson
Captain Marvel - Carol Danvers
Storm - Ororo Munroe
Wolverine - James "Logan" Howlett
Magneto - Max Eisenhardt
Scarlet Witch - Wanda Maximoff
QuickSilver - Pietro Maximoff
Ironman - Tony Stark
Thanos
DC Characters:
Superman - Kal El, Clark Kent
Batman - Bruce Wayne
Wonder Woman - Princess Diana of Themyscira
The Flash - Barry Allen
Zatanna Zatara
Catwoman
Captain Marvel - Billy Batson
The Joker
Lex Luthor
Zodd
NPCs would be Deadpool and Harley Quinn
Any of these characters can replace anyone from the proposed roster or could be added as DLC:
Deadpool - Wade Wilson - Marvel Comics
Harley Quinn - Harleen Quinzel - DC Comics
Spider-man - Peter Parker/Miles Morales - Marvel Comics
Poison Ivy - Pamela Isley - DC Comics
Cyclops - Scott Summers - Marvel Comics
Mr. Fantastic - Reed Richards - Marvel Comics
Constantine - John Constantine - DC Comics
Dr. Fate - Nabu/Kent Nelson - DC Comics
Doctor Strange - Stephen Strange - Marvel Comics
Blue Beetle - Jaime Reyes - DC Comics
Human Torch - Jonathan Storm - Marvel Comics
Firestorm - Martin Stein & Ronnie Raymond - DC Comics
Martian Manhunter - J'onn J'onzz - DC Comics
Green Lantern - Any of the human green lanterns, I prefer Kyle Rayner - DC Comics

WORLD OF HEROES R - The Super Family
Last survivors of the planet of Krypton, these two high-flying heroes protect their new home of Metropolis (and, really, a lot of other places when they're called for) from the machinations of overzealous billionaires, apathetic criminal masterminds, and the odd alien invasion. Whenever there's something going wrong, the red capes come to make things right.
FEATURED MEMBERS
Superman AKA Kal-El - The Man of Steel himself, said to be the mightiest man on the planet. Despite this, he remains humble to a fault and always offers help where it's needed.
Power Woman AKA Karazor-El - Superman's cousin and the only other surviving Kryptonian, her stunning beauty proves just as much an asset as her amazing flying speed and super strength.
NOT MEMBERS
Lois Lane - one of the main reporters of the Daily Planet, and considered by some to be the source to go to for Superman-related news. Her earnest commentary is matched only by the lengths she'll go to for the information the people need, which in a way makes her a mightier force then even Superman himself. Because of this, internet fandoms have popped up posing the idea that she's in a fluffy relationship with Superman, even though common knowledge reveals she's in a relationship with her dorky subordinate Clark Kent (not pictured)
Jimmy Olsen - Owner of the popular superhero news streaming channel Flamebird, and the man who's snapped a thousand photos of the Man of Steel. Yes, even that one. Yes, including that other one. Sorry ladies and gentlemen, he's married to the job. Flamebird alone earns him a nice hefty 20,000 a month, he just does the photos because it's fun.
Lex Luthor - Some rich guy who likes to slap his face everywhere. They say he's probably one of the smartest men on earth. Of course, they also say the earth is flat, so more likely he's an egotist who needs to get over himself.

Weekly Fic Rec 42
Not as many fic recs this week :( Work was super busy for me. There are only three people in my lab and two were out on PTO, so for three days it was only ME there! And my boss threw a last minute project for me to work on (omg SAUSAGE). This resulted in long days, and not a lot of reading :( I'm very happy my coworkers are coming back tomorrow, lol.
Most of these recs are updates that made me do a little happy dance when I saw the notification emails in my inbox. The last fic I'm not finished reading yet. It's a long fic that I'm working my way through. It's been really fun to read!
Mission: seducing Superman by Speechless_since_1998 - Superbat, wip. More of Battinson trying to seduce Superman. He has also acquired a child :)

Repeat Your Favorited Mistakes And Love Them All Again by watchingthestars13 - Superbat & Batfam, complete. The bat boys get magicked into their kid selves. What do you think about the Absolute Power event coming up? It's the Trinity vs the 'evil Trinity' (Failsafe, Brainiac Queen & Amanda Waller). This seems like they're rehashing the Trinity vs evil Trinity (Ra's al Ghul, Lex Luthor & Circe) event they previously did.
Personally I'm tired of these seemingly never ending cosmic events. As soon as one crisis is over DC is hyping up the next one.
As a concept it’s as cliche and played out as they come: Heroes lose their powers and have to save the day without them. And yet…
Mora’s art is good enough to almost make the whole thing look cool. Look there’s actually some potential here believe it or not. The Amazos are piloted by the Zurs which means we get the chance to see each Leaguer go up against a Batman armed with their powers who they have to outwit instead of brute force their way to victory. My one big disappointment with the Metal event was that I wanted to see the evil Batmen beaten by their heroic counterparts using prep time. If we get that here I’ll consider it a win.
Apparently the real leads of this event are going to be Nightwing, Jon Kent, and Dreamer. Jon has been teased to be Waller’s general in a variant cover featuring him fighting Clark, strikes me as Waid repurposing the last of the 5G plans and using them here. He’ll probably be mind controlled but Waid writing Jon as a lead piques my interest with regards to how he might characterize him as opposed to Clark.
Finally Absolute Power is probably going to tie into Scott Snyder’s Absolute DC line somehow. Or at least it better because that’s part of why I’ve resigned myself to checking this out. DC is never going to stop making events but I am pleading with the editors to find a more interesting premise than this.
Edit: Realized I didn’t talk about the “Trinity of Evil” and that silence says more than I can really. They’re nothing, Zur is yet another evil Batman copy, Brainiac Queen has only just been introduced, only Waller potentially has some spark. I don’t agree with the complaints about her being “too evil”, is anyone seriously going to argue that one can be a member of the United States military industrial complex in 2024 and be “morally gray”? Good luck convincing me of that, Waller’s a villain.

Recently watched Superman: The Movie (1978) for the first time in well over a decade and it really is a great movie so I got some thoughts that I want to put somewhere before I forget.
The cold open of theater curtains showing a mockup of an old Superman serial featuring Action Comics is a great nod to the character's past. Then the title flying out of the old theater screen is a fantastic visual as well as a good transition to kickstart the credits sequence accompanied by the iconic music
The set design of Krypton is phenomenal; the glowing clothes, the crystalline look, and the streamlined technology feel alien and futuristic in a unique way, although it is a little odd that everything is so white except for Kal-El's baby blanket.
The trial of Zod, Ursa, and Non has the striking combination of visuals that are the trio being held in a spotlight by spinning rings and the stern Kryptonian judges' faces being projected onto the otherwise dark dome surrounding them
Marlon Brando keeps pronouncing it "Kryptin" for some reason. Like when I'm joking about watching "The Batmins"
Genuinely very sad goodbye scene from Kal's parents
Pretty much every wide shot in Kansas is super beautiful
As is the custom, Ma and Pa Kent bring Clark up right. I appreciate the moment where Clark tells Pa about how he gets so mad at bullies that he wants to tear them apart because first off, you can tell from how he says it that he knows it'd be wrong to do that. And second, Pa doesn't yell at him for having those feelings, he tries to help him deal with them.
Clark doesn't just bail on Martha to go find himself, and he makes sure she'll have help on the farm while he's gone
The sequence of the Fortress forming itself has amazing practical effects and editing
Maybe it was because I was watching the Blu Ray version with extra scenes but the abstract montage of crystal Jor-El teaching Clark about the universe and his abilities and giving life lessons ran a little long but it was cool
Clark is very much playing up his meek, clumsy identity but him being Reporter Clark Kent as a person is not totally an act. He makes sure half his paycheck goes to Ma back home because he wants to make sure she's taken care of and he tries to be polite and helpful around the office, which tracks with who he is at his core
I think Lex being a business tycoon/scientist is pretty integral to the character but I don't mind this version's "Napoleon of crime" shtick. I like that Gene Hackman's hair being a wig in-story is hinted at when Otis is poking around the spa and he finds a spare hairpiece
I know everyone knows this already but Christopher Reeves is a perfect casting choice and he does an amazing job at making Clark and Superman superficially different but obviously the same person at heart. Even when he says something a little corny as either one, there's so much sincerity to it
Clark feeling a little guilty about enjoying being a hero is on-brand. I like that Jor-El reflects Johnathan Kent by encouraging him but also giving guidance so he doesn't lose who he is.
The moment of Jor-El saying "I've sent them you. My only son." is veering very close to the common Superman-as-a-Jesus-allegory mistake but it's the only time in the entire movie I remember it doing that, so I can't harp on it too much
Lois is just a force of nature and the only reason Clark can keep up with her as Superman is because she's starstruck
This version of Superman and Lois are down just HORRENDOUS for each other
The flying date scene is great and I think the poorly-aged flying effect is countered by the nighttime background and the chemistry between the characters. That being said, the "can you read my mind" poem is just. What. Why is this
The scene of Lex, Ms. Teschmacher, and Otis attempting to tamper with the nukes and then having to do it again because Otis screwed up is so goofy I forgot they were villains
Great moment when Superman shows he can be intimidating by just staring down Otis.
I like that Superman is saved by Ms Teschmacher because she believes in him which is a surprise to Lex because he only believes in himself
Really great effects in the scenes of the destruction from the San Andreas fault
This shot is underrated
The moments of Superman realizing Lois is dead have so much weight to them and are amazingly shot
I kind of wish they explored the consequences of him "interfering in history" because otherwise it is sort of just a convenient deus ex machina
Everything ends tied up very nicely (except the Zod squad but after two hours, nobody's thinking about that) and sometimes that's all a movie needs
It's astonishing really how much they manage to fit in this movie considering they give a lot of scenes more time than you'd expect
Overall, movie good.
